Our Story

Conception

Life is a journey. The journey of life begins with conception and progressively move towards maturity. The 777 Prayer Conference was conceived in the mind of God and implanted in the heart of his servant on April 2, 2016 at the Grand Concourse Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bronx, NY. The prayer conference was conceptualized by Pastor Desmond C. Haye and Elder Paul Smith, who saw the need for people to meet to pray with the aim of reaching the lost for Christ. The idea was endorsed and supported by the Senior Pastor, Dr. Burnett L. Robinson. In its embryonic stage the name “777 Prayer Conference” was chosen by its leaders. The undergirding principle was that God’s people should pray without ceasing. Since there are seven days in a week, the plan was to encourage members of God’s church to pray 7 days per week at 7 am and 7pm. Thus, began a journey of faith, favor, and the building of a global prayer family.

Nurturing Newborn

Like a mother nurturing her newborn babe, the leaders and members of the Grand Concourse Seventh-day Adventist Church took special interest and care in preserving the health and viability of the prayer conference. God’s hand was upon this praying band of believers. From its formative days, the prayer conference and its leadership kept the focus on prayer and prayer alone. Under the leadership of Pastor Desmond Haye, a platform was developed where people could meet virtually for the special seasons of prayer.

Toddler of Truth

There were key individuals who became presenters on the prayer conference from its inception, and their presence contributed to its growth and expansion. Some of these presenters are, Dr. Burnett Robinson, Barbara Mitchell, Pearline Brangman, Stephen Neufeld, Keith Crawford, and many more. Like every child, there were teething pains in maintaining consistency on the prayer conference, but God was always faithful in sending us the right persons for that season. His word and His truth kept marching on and we continued to grow from strength to strength.

Courage Through the Adolescent Years of Change

There have been hurdles though synonymous with the growing pains of adolescence, some welcomed and others shunned. God used them all to bring us to our third year of life and we had a grand celebration. By now, we had a solid and dedicated team that supported the operation of the new platform we had started to use. It was also during these times that a number of segments were named, as presenters were led by the Holy Spirit. Some of these names were, Sunday Morning Breakfast, My Bible and I, Wednesday Morning Manna, Hour of Power, The Day-breaker, The Happy Hour, The Secret Place, and Your Health and You. Some of the presenters during this phase included, Lucille Bridgewater, Sylvia Ellis, Ulett Chambers-Wilson, Ian Hylton, Julissa Suah, Nicola Willocks, Sheldon Simpson, Icilda Scott, Dottice Brown, Angela Johnson Kareen Bailey, Joel Pike, Dr. Burnett Robinson, Pastor Ricardo Carr, Pastor Ricardo Reid, Stacey Ann Linton-Haye, and Pastor Desmond Haye.

Adulthood of Anticipation

As we embark on our fourth anniversary, we can look back and say, “Hitherto hath the Lord led us…” And we are cognizant He will not leave us now. Indeed, our developmental scars are definitely there but as responsible adults, we have grown to accept God’s will for this ministry. We have a solid group of dedicated and hard-working presenters and our participant base has grown exponentially. We continue to give all praises to our Father in Heaven, who continues to guide our plans and chart our ways. May the words of Sir. Francis Drake challenge us on this 4th anniversary as we look From Here… To Forever:

Disturb us, Lord, whenWe are too well pleased with ourselves,When our dreams have come trueBecause we have dreamed too little,When we arrived safelyBecause we sailed too close to the shore.Disturb us, Lord, whenWith the abundance of things we possessWe have lost our thirstFor the waters of life;Having fallen in love with life,We have ceased to dream of eternityAnd in our efforts to build a new earth,We have allowed our visionOf the new Heaven to dim.Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,To venture on wider seasWhere storms will show your mastery;Where losing sight of land,We shall find the stars. We ask You to push backThe horizons of our hopes; And to push into the futureIn strength, courage, hope, and love.

Above all, may the God of heaven who has guided us from our inception, lead us forward as we continue to lift Him up! “Faith is the victory we know, that overcomes the world!” (Hymn 608, SDA Hymnal).
